• My undergraduate was in Elementary Group Minors: Elementary Ed, Mathematics, and Language Arts.  
• My graduate program is Educational Technology.
• I am a little less then half way done with my graduate program. I am scheduled to be done the end of this summer.
• I consider Muskegon, MI my hometown.
• I currently live in San Antonio, TX.
• My job (for now) is going to school, coordinating military spouse events, and being a house wife.
• The job I would like to have someday would be teaching again in middle school (I taught middle school math, language arts, and social studies previously) and also being a technology coordinator that assists other teachers.
• Outside of teaching, I really enjoy biking, hiking, and travel.
• This blog is where I post EDT resources and references for future use.

The about slideshow is photos of Greek Day 2010.  In my 6^th grade team, we integrated subjects and learned about Greece.  At the end of our interdisciplinary unit, we celebrated with Greek Day!

Teaching Students to be Self Directed

This 16 minute video by Alan November, he identifies three essential things that we should be teaching in our classrooms: information processing, global communication, and being self-directed.  He also points out several self-directed jobs that give students purpose in the classroom: curriculum review podcasters, design teams for tutorial screencasts, official scribes for notetaking, and official researchers to answer questions
